From the time we are an infant to the tender age of 7 our brain is a sponge. We absorb everything in our surrounding, mainly as a survival mechanism to be able to create ‘ideas’ about the world we live in and how we are suppose to properly navigate through life.
There is one major flaw with this clever mechanism given to us by mother nature and that is the reality that not everything in our surrounding is most conducive to the adult reality we want to live in, or most fitted for our personalities, dreams and life goals.
Our perception of reality is shaped by the world we live in, yet most motivational books and seminars tell us YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. It sounds good, we go home and want to believe we can indeed do anything. Yet, what happens a few days after the high is gone is those beliefs you have formed about the reality of your world (rooted deep in the subconscious mind) take over and dictate the actions you take and choices you make on a daily basis.
Want the good news about these limiting beliefs? You can get rid of them. You can change the perception of the world you have created over the past 20, 30 or however many years you’ve been alive. It’s not easy and it won’t happen in an instant.
First step to start challenging those deeply rooted beliefs is by asking the question WHY more often. Why do you do and believe the things you do, is it just how you were raised, something you heard on the media or your own individual, self-reflected view of the world.
